Continue reading to learn a few basic facts you should know about soft washing.
- What is soft washing? Soft washing is a method of exterior cleaning that uses biodegradable cleaning agents to gently remove dirt, grime, mildew, and other contaminants, leaving behind a renewed, sanitized surface.
- How is soft washing different from pressure washing? The first difference between soft washing and pressure washing is the use of cleaning solutions. Soft washing involves treating the target surface with a specialized blend of cleaning agents, while pressure washing relies on water pressure alone to remove dirt and grime. Another difference between the two methods lies in the strength of the water pressure used in each. Soft washing, as the name suggests, uses much softer levels of water pressure (usually not more than 300 PSI), while pressure washing pressures are much higher (typically over 2,500 PSI).
- When should soft washing be used? Soft washing can be used on just about any exterior surface, but it is especially useful for cleaning softer materials such as shingles or siding. Since pressure washing can damage these more delicate surfaces, soft washing is an excellent alternative. Furthermore, the cleaning solutions in soft washing are great at eliminating mold, mildew and similar contaminants, so we highly recommend this method if this is a concern for you. Even when pressure washing harder surfaces, we use solutions to break down the contaminants at the source, leaving a brighter finish for longer.
